Mes Que un Club

It's only fair that I declare my allegiance up front: I'm a Football Club Barcelona supporter - I have been for as long as I can remember - and fully paid-up club member ('soci').

First and foremost however I'm a football supporter - I want to see my team win but not at any cost. I want to see a good game with players performing to their maximum potential.

At the weekend Barcelona travelled to Real Madrid for a match that was to go a long way to deciding who won the league championship. The hosts were humbled by six goals to two following a display of dynamic and aesthetically pleasing football. Moments after the final whistle the home supporters, despite their disappointment, felt compelled the applaud the performance of their greatest rivals.

Following the match the Barcelona President Joan Laporta spoke passionately about the responsibility that the team hold - the 'proposal', as he labelled it, is to play a blend of winning and attractive football. Even one or two of the Real Madrid players acknowledged that whilst they themselves had been on a marvelous winning run they had at times been very fortunate and their performances certainly hadn't been attractive.
