Postcard From My Garden

I'm conscious that I haven't been posting much this week: 'blogging' has become quite therapeutic for me and, as I've been on annual leave this week I've been feeling particularly calm and relaxed. I feel some of my most 'fluid' writing often comes when I'm frustrated, wound-up or particularly tired and this week I just haven't felt the need of my therapist.

I've had a really nice week so far, I wouldn't say I've got too much to show for the week but that's OK (isn't it?): I've read loads, enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine while sat in my garden, watched some of of my favourite TV series (when the rain drove me indoors), had a couple of trips to the gym, played football on Monday night and spent a very, very enjoyable hour and a bit on Wednesday afternoon playing table tennis with a good friend.

I'd joked with my wife that anyone can play table tennis - 'it's standing whilst waving your arms' I told her before I went out - and I was really surprised just how physically demanding it was. Accepting that I'm not the fittest person it was a really good workout and I certainly felt tired for it later that evening (to be fair I'd also been to the gym in the morning so maybe next time I won't do both on the same day).

Today is the last day of my annual leave week - in fact it'll probably be my last leave before early October. My wife also has the day off work tomorrow so as a treat we're going to the cinema to watch Transformers 2. As I've said before I don't usually like going to see a film as soon as it's released - invariably the cinema is busy and I just don't have the patience to put up with 'anti-social' behaviour from my fellow film-goers: talking, kicking the back of my chair, using a mobile phone etc - but we'll give it a go, get there early and choose a good seat.

I haven't had to have anyone ejected from the cinema so far this year - I've had 3 people ejected from the supermarket but so far not the cinema - so fingers crossed for a good film and an uneventful afternoon.

To my regular readers: apologies for the lack of posts this week, I suspect things will be back to normal from around 9 o'clock on Monday morning.

Have a good weekend.
