X is For ...

I see UEFA have appointed Swiss official Massimo Busacca as the referee for this Wednesdays Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona.

Busacca has a good track record of officiating at the highest level having refereed at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, taking charge of the 2007 UEFA Cup Final in Glasgow, three games at UEFA Euro 2008 and having been pre-selected for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

All of that said, expect more outrageous criticism from certain television pundits if things don't go the way of the English club - apparently the referee has to come from a 'top' football country to be a top referee and never make a mistake.

Really?* Are you sure?
