Thoughts from a Grumpy Old Man

Following on from my last post, and on a more general point, I'm enjoying going to the cinema less and less these days - and it's got nothing to do with the films I'm watching.

What is it about people that they can't sit for a couple of hours without talking to the person next to them, without checking their mobile phone every twenty minutes, and being unable to sit still and not kick the back of my chair?

I've always loved going to 'the pictures' - never mind that most films are best seen on a large screen but going to the cinema has always been an event for me. Travelling with anticipation, enjoying the trailers, the excitement when the curtain closes and then reopens to review the opening images of the film, chatting about the film on the way home ... my enjoyment is now being eroded by my fellow cinema goers: things can only get worse I fear as the cinema chains try to boost their profits by serving alcohol during films.

Now, where did I leave my slippers?
