The standard wasn't great to be honest - we are talking about 7 divisions below the Football League here so what can you expect. However, everything was geared up towards the spectators enjoying their day.
Admission was just £4 for adults and £2 for children - this included a free 32 page matchday programme: as such the crowd included a lot of families. It was a nice sunny day so the bar in the clubhouse was doing a good trade, a mug - yes proper mug - of tea cost just 50p and a burger was just £1.50.
The players on the whole played with great discipline and, when occasionally tempers flared, the coaches reminded their players of their responsibilities.
The club attracted their largest gate of the season - 150 - and everyone appeared to have a good day.
I'm pleased to report that the sport is alive and well at grass roots - support your local club.
