Regular readers, of which I'm hoping I have a couple, will know that Friday night is food shopping night for me. Well, having run out of one or two essentials I made an extra trip to my regular supermarket last night only to discover that since my last visit - just 4 days ago - the store has had a complete refit.
As I strolled the isles looking for my items I was informed, via the public addres system, that the refit would 'add to my shopping experience'. What?
I've spent the last 8 years getting to the point where I can do a weeks shopping in under 25 minutes by subconsciously memorising where every item they stock is. Last night it took me 15 minutes just to find cat litter. It was where the pasta used to be. During this journey of discovery I witnessed a number of lost souls peering around isles, looking puzzled, one or two on the verge of tears.
I eventually found the items I needed, along with a couple of novelty Easter eggs and a jumbo container of sink unblocker - who knew they sold such things.
I'll be back there tomorrow evening for the weekly shop - I think that feeling in my stomach is nerves.
